This weekend my Lopez friends along with the WWU Sailing Team hosted a NCICSA Team Race right in our own backyard. I furnished some pics of the event. And here I’ve posted a few of my favorites. It was a blustery weekend, full of spills and thrills. If you never thought of sailing as a competitive-high energy sport, you’ve never seen a dozen hungry collegians in twenty knots of wind smashing Vanguard 15’s into each other. Its was wild.
This event has lots of local support including the fabulous Islander Resort, Barn Owl Bakery, the Vortex… and a huge list of generous individuals.
It was my first attempt at being a “Seattle Sailing Photographer.” The thrill of being right in the middle of the action and knowing that your are capturing cool images is ALMOST as fun as sailing an actual racing dinghy. I think I’d like to do more of this.
Big thanks to my honey Laura for hooking me up with her long telephoto nature lens!
