I asked Annie and Scott earlier today for some insight into how they think the wedding went. I got back a whole slew of notes and commentary of tasty loving tidbits, but the one that stood out right away was this…
“…I wanted to walk down the isle to Holocene, a song that is special to me and Scott. I Chose a Vitamin String Quartet version of it, but when I was making the play list, I accidentally programmed the original version (Bon Iver) to play. When the wrong version started to play, I stated to panic ..looking at our music tec whispering all wide-eyed (That’s the wrong song!) She kept it playing, and I looked at my dad and said “oh well, let’s go.” The panic melted away just as I turned the corner and locked eyes with Scott. It felt perfect. The wrong song ended up being the perfect song.”
I immediately felt the urge to create a video montage of the images with the original intended song playing during the ceremony shots.
There are so many other touching aspects of that day, such as the
- transformation of the friends’ barn into a gorgeous “not for hire” wedding venue
- the rings were Scott’s grandparents
- the dress is from a small Boutique called Cocoon Silk in downtown Portland. It was hand made by the storeowner from the silk his family grows in Cambodia. “It was so fun to be apart of the design process, and see the beautiful gown through all of the stages. (Bonus: the dress was cheaper than most of the factory dresses I tried on)”
…but I’m going to leave those stories for Annie and Scott to tell. I’ve got a nine minute video to show you….
Warning: It’s a lot to take in. If you can, get yerself situated with some headphones in a place where you can focus.
Special thanks to Blake Crosby for second shooting.
